This is an annual event organized by the Kenya Ploughing Organization (KPO) which is a sub committee of the Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF).
Agriculture is the main stay of the Kenyan Economy contributing considerably to the country’s GDP and employing a significant proportion of the country’s labour force. The Kenya’s population continues to grow annually necessitating increased food production for the rising population. This can be partly achieved through improved efficiency in agricultural practices like ploughing
Ploughing is a primary cultivation activity that contributes to seedbed preparation. Good ploughing results into an excellent seedbed thereby improving crop yields. Through the ploughing competition, this can be partly achieved. The ploughmen and women acquire essential skills for good quality ploughing through preparation and participation in the event.
At the Agricultural Society of Kenya, it is our core mandate to support agriculture through dissemination of relevant information to our farmers in the region. The event forms a good forum for interaction and collaboration between stakeholders .
